At the end of the course delegates will be able to:

understand why it is important to manage health and safety in the workplace

understand the requirements of health and safety law and the structure of the UK legal system

understand how companies actively manage health and safety using the PlanDo Check Act model of management

listand describe the five steps of risk assessment

understand that risk can be managed by reducing likelihood or severity of a hazardous event

list the hierarchy of risk control

understand a wide range of common workplace hazards and how to control them

define the terms: incident, accident and near miss

describe the steps which should be taken after anaccident has occurred

describe the importance of incident investigation in the workplace
