Description
The 5 day SMSTS course covers all relevant legislation affecting safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture within the workforce.
The course includes:
- how to implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation affecting your daily work
- how to implement new guidance and industry best practice
- what your duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment are.

Outcome
You will undergo a short theory test at the end of the course. On successful completion of the course, you will receive a CITB industry recognised certificate which is valid for 5 years.
Please note to remain certified in this area, a refresher course must be undertaken before the 5 year certification expires or a full course will need to completed again.
Prerequisites
There are no formal qualifications required to attend the SMSTS course but we do recommend working knowledge within the construction industry.
